What is a structure?
A structure can either be natural or man made. There are three types of structures namely a shell structure, a frame structure and solid structures. A structure must be able to support its own weight as well as the load it is supporting, without collapsing. The function of a structure is to support a load, protect, hold or enclose space.
Examples of structures suiting the above purposes can be a table that supports a load, a tortoise whose shell protects him from danger, a carrier bag that holds groceries or a marquee that encloses space. The two main types of structures we see are shell structures and frame structures. |
